Anthropic agreed to use up to one million Google TPUs

On October 23, 2025 Anthropic announced it would expand its use of Google Cloud’s Tensor Processing Units to access up to one million TPUs, bringing “well over a gigawatt of capacity online in 2026,” in a deal it described as worth tens of billions of dollars. Even so, Google did not become Anthropic’s only supplier: Anthropic said it runs across Google TPUs, Amazon Trainium, and NVIDIA GPUs, picking among them for price, performance, and efficiency.
