On July 20, 2026, Gallup reported that 47 percent of U.S. employees said their organization had integrated AI tools, up six points from 41 percent the previous quarter. A further 20 percent said they did not know whether their employer had adopted AI tools, which is itself a useful measure of how uneven internal communication about AI still is.
Individual use runs ahead of the organizational figure. Gallup found 52 percent of U.S. workers use AI in their role, 30 percent use it a few times a week or more, and 15 percent use it daily. The most common applications were writing and editing at 51 percent, search and research at 49 percent, and problem-solving assistance at 39 percent. Workers rated coding assistance and process automation highest for productivity impact, both at 77 percent reporting positive effects, followed by presentation creation at 76 percent and data science and analytics at 75 percent.
The survey covered 22,573 employed U.S. adults with fieldwork from May 6 to 20, 2026, and a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 0.9 percentage points at the 95 percent confidence level.
The gap between 52 percent of workers using AI and 47 percent saying their organization has adopted it is the number worth watching. It implies a meaningful slice of AI use inside U.S. companies is happening without, or ahead of, a formal organizational deployment, which is exactly the population that governance, data handling policy, and security review tend to miss.
