Tesler's Theorem says intelligence is whatever machines haven't done yet

The saying behind the “AI effect” is usually quoted as “Artificial Intelligence is whatever hasn’t been done yet.” On his own consulting website, computer scientist Larry Tesler - to whom it is attributed - records that what he actually said was “Intelligence is whatever machines haven’t done yet.” He notes the popular version is a paraphrase, and that his original point was about how people define human intelligence by excluding whatever machines can already do, not a claim about the field of AI itself.
